Get ready to bring out the bikinis, girls! It’s Workout Wednesday and summer is getting closer by the minute, even though NYC is freezing and rainy right now–YUCK! So, I wanted to share my Standup Paddleboard yoga workout with you from my trip to Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Jamaica last week. I took full advantage of their water sports in order to stay on track with my workout schedule. Sometimes when traveling, it’s fun to mix up your fitness routine and try new activities and adventures. And, a sweat-sesh in the water is always a plus, especially on vacation!

Standup Paddleboarding (SUP’ing) is a great workout even without adding yoga poses because it engages your abs, arms, core and legs to tone the entire body. But of course, I like to challenge myself and decided to incorporate some balancing acts on the board too!

Doing simple poses on a floating board requires tons of core and mental engagement, and works muscles double-time. I repeated each of the above yoga moves (plank pose, warrior 1, warrior 2, headstand, backbend) and some squats and push-ups to keep the flow going. But, even if you don’t do these moves in the middle of the ocean, you can try them on your  towel or on the sand to make beach trips more productive!

Keep up the good work, Sporties and just keep thinking … “bikini body”!

XOXO,
NYC
