In the dead of winter, it’s the hardest time to motivate and get your butt in gear to workout. But, sometimes a little vitamin D and some fresh air can totally turn your mood around and inspire a little outdoor sweat-sesh. This weekend’s beach trip was the perfect opportunity to skip the gym and get fit in the sand and salty (cold) air. The temps may have been below freezing, but after some stretching and a brisk warm-up, my blood was pumping and I was ready to flow! I don’t always stick to the same fitness routine, especially when traveling, but I do like to incorporate a mix of cardio and toning to keep a balanced bod.

Below is a fun 50 minute beach body burn:

Brisk walk to the ocean (5 mins)
• Gently stretch: hamstrings, quads, arms and back (5 mins)
• Mix in some basic yoga poses (I like a Vinyasa flow) to stretch and strengthen before a short run. Some poses pictured above: Tree Pose, Upward Dog, Warrior II, Handstand & Headstand (15 mins)
• Jog/run on the boardwalk, or on the sand for more resistance (15 mins)
• Slow down your pace to a brisk walk (5 mins)
• Stretch and finish with some crunches (100) to work your core (5 mins)

Get fit, Girls!
XOXO,
NYC
