Smashing STARLET!

Jacket: vintage Marc by Marc Jacobs /similar, Sequined Tee: Michael StarsPurple jeans: American Apparel, Scarf: Simply Vera (sold out) similar/similar, Pumps: Nine West, Clutch: Elaine Turner similar, Sunnies: Ray-Ban, Bracelet: Bad Buckles

A little bit girly, a little bit grungy, this vintage rocker-chic jacket that I scored a few years ago still puts a smile on my face every time I see it in my closet. Purple pants and a sequined tee keeps it glam rather than too tough. If you can’t find this exact jacket in thrift stores or flea markets, I say create your own! Start with a distressed denim jacket as your canvas. Buy some funky patches at Ricky’s (or any craft store) and vintage pins and buttons. Grab a grommet gun (or bedazzler!) and get ready to rock! Either way, all you lovelies should have a wild, daring piece like this in your wardrobe.

XOXO,

NYC

    Hello
I love this jacket, and have been lucky enough (I think) to find one on ebay very recently, yay. The only thing is the previous owner removed some of the patches for some reason (I wish she hadn’t, but explains the bargain price). Could I ask whether you have customised or embellished your jacket more yourself? Like the three rows of studs at the bottom of the back, and the swallow patch on the back with the star and circle studs? Looks great 🙂 Thanks

Yah!!! That’s great! No, I didn’t add any other patches or grommets to mine but you should go for it!! Send me a pic when you’re all done!

Thanks! I think my trusty old Levi’s jacket fits better, so I might use that blank canvas to create my own masterpiece 🙂 Wish I could find the same circular and star grommets, though, love the ones on this jacket (and am disappointed that some of the studs and patches have been taken off the jacket I bought – I love the embellishment on yours!). I’ll post a picture of my creation once I’m through…

Didn’t we have a few jackets like that back in middle school? Wait, maybe they were acid washed!! 😉

That jacket would make me smile too! Gotta get my hands on a grommet gun 🙂
