Red Carpet Ready!

Red carpet

It’s awards season Lovelies! And what an amazing array of fashion, beauty and bling spotted on the red carpet last night. Right? As the stars strutted their stuff, I was loving all the regal red gowns along with softer palettes in shimmery neutral nudes and greys. Fun up-do’s were a glam-slam hit as far as hairstyles go. So, I thought I’d share some tips and tricks that I learned from Beauty High for achieving a cool new ‘do for all you party goers out there! It’s a fishtail braided bun and it’s sure to make some waves. Check out the simple step-by-step process from hair makeup artist Alice An below!

Step 1: Tie your hair into a ponytail at the nape of your neck, leaving out a few strands in the front. Then, separate your ponytail into two strands.
Step 2: From those two strands, start a fishtail braid by holding the right section of hair in your right hand. Then, using that right hand, take the outside of your right section and cross it over to the inside of your left section.
Step 3: Repeat this on the other side.
Step 4: Now, concentrating on the left section in your hand, take a small piece from the outside of your left section and cross it over to the inside of your right section.
Step 5: Continue down until your fishtail braid is finished.
Step 6: Feel free to pull and dishevel the braid a bit.
Step 7: Wrap the braid up into a bun and tuck the ends in. Secure with bobby pins.
Step 8: Finish by curling your front sections of hair until they fall the way you’d like them to.

Enjoy!

I really love your dress, so gorgeous, going to try out this do for a few spring weddings I am in. I hope it works for layered locks! xo

This hairdo is super cute! I was also admiring how beautiful your skin looks in these pictures. Do you use makeup or do you just naturally have nice skin? I wish I could put up my hair like that, but I have my curly hair in short layers so it really limits my selection of up-do’s.

Thanks so much! I actually usually don’t wear too much makeup, but for this shoot they had a hair & makeup team so I wore a bit more on than usual. Sometimes all you need is a great tinted moisturizer with SPF and some mascara, blush and a pretty lip stain. Hope this helps!
