I’ve been on a mission to soak in every last bit of warm summer-like temps and sunny skies while taking full advantage of all the outdoor activities to keep my body in motion and help boost my immune system.
As you know, my number one workout is running. It’s the best way I know how to CHECK OUT of my head, and CHECK-IN with my body. And I find that when I can do that it automatically helps to de-stress and let my mind reboot. I get so many new ideas on a run too so it’s also a great way to get my creative juices flowing.
Biking, yoga, and, surfing is next on my list to mix up the use of different muscles giving me more variety to challenge my performance. And when I’m out in the water I can’t bring a cellphone so that’s always a fun way to unplug.
BUT it’s also SUPER important to combine fresh air and all that movement with a daily dose of vitamins and an extra boost of immunity! That’s where NOW® comes into play! (BONUS! checkout my insta today enter to WIN $150 to nowfoods.com!)
A few of my daily go-to’s for added immune support are:
1. Vitamin C: A powerful antioxidant to help maintain cellular health by neutralizing free radicals.* This product has ThreonicAcid shown to enhance cellular uptake of vitamin C, and Alpha lipoic acid that functions as a free radical scavenger that can help regenerate vitamin C in the body and may also enhance its utilization.* This unique formula is highly biologically available and well-absorbed.
2.Liquid Elderberry is another easy way to add a dose of healthy to my day. It’s a free-radical scavenger used for centuries by herbalists as a tonic to maintain health and well-being.* More recently, Elderberry has been recognized for its high nutritive value, especially for its potent free radical scavenging vitamins and anthocyanins.* I mix a teaspoon into my water every day to help support my health and well-being.*
3. I’m also a super fan of adding protein powders to my smoothies, especially post-workout. The vanilla NOW® Sports Organic Pea Protein tastes delish and is a great source of post-workout nutrition for athletes. So after the long run, this is one of my fave ways to refuel. It’s ideal for anyone who has a hard time supplementing other types of protein because it’s a non-GMO vegetable protein isolate that has 15 grams of easily-digested protein. It mixes easily and is unflavored, so you can add it to your favorite smoothie concoction for that much-needed protein boost.
I’m doing all I can to stay healthy as we head into the winter season on top of eating a balanced diet filled with fish, fruits, and all the veggies. For me, balance is key and I know that if I keep up with these healthy habits I’ll be on the right track to staying strong all winter long.
